Louis F. “Louie” Lee age 76, died on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital, Beaver Dam. He was born on August 7, 1935 in Portage to Louis and Clara (Schroeder) Lee. He was a 1954 graduate of the Columbus High School. Louie was married to Shirley Tiedt on June 28, 1969 in Columbus. He worked as a meat cutter for Krueger’s Grocery, Schroeder’s Meat Market, Endres Meat Market and McNulty’s Food Store, all in Columbus. He also worked as a cutter in Waterloo and retired from Curry’s in Mayville. At one time, he owned and operated the Peacock Lounge in Doylestown. Before his marriage, he was an avid bowler and league member. Louie had a love for flower gardening. He grew many varieties and often sold them to others who shared his appreciation of their beauty. He and Shirley enjoyed traveling, visiting Norway and many other Scandinavian countries and Europe. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Columbus; one son, Lance of Cottage Grove; two sisters, Vivian (Wayne) Armstrong of Fall River and Clarice (John) Haefner of Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Joan Lee of Columbus and Pat Lee of Baraboo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and his faithful companion, ‘Toby’. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Gilmore, four brothers, Donald, Marvin, Rolland and Kenneth. A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Wilke officiated. Inurnment was in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation was from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday and from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation or Zion Ev. Lutheran Church.
