Ruth E. Hemling left this world surrounded by her family on July 4th, 2012 while a resident at the Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She was born December 29th, 1928 to Thad and Anna (Zimbrick) Wakeman in the township of Portland in Dodge County. After graduating from Rio High School and teacher’s training at Columbia County Normal School, Ruth married Louis Hemling, June 24th, 1948. Until 1972, they were working partners on a dairy farm. They continued to work and live in the Fall River area for many years. Ruth worked for Jung’s Nursery for 15 years where her love of and interest in plants flourished. Ruth was the proud “Mom” to eight children: Sharon-Walt Fujii of Hayward, CA, Pat-Corrie Miller of Park Falls, Linda-Mike Krakow of Columbus, Ron of Fall River, Renee-John Neesam of Columbus, Susan-Chuck Kaschub of Columbus, Phil-Denise of Columbus, and Mark-fiancee Theresa Reed of Randolph. Added to her joy were 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ruth’s life and legacy continue to be celebrated by her husband Louis of Wyocena, her sister Mary Ann- Robert Hatzinger of Baraboo, her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald Wakeman.
