Obituary

TOWN OF ELBA--Adrian J. Powers, age 76, a dairy farmer for fifty years, passed away on Monday, July 1st at home surrounded by family after a long battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Adrian was a one of six, born to F. Adrian and Marcella Powers on March 26, 1943 in Columbus, WI. He attended college at MATC in Madison where he met Jane Schiferl. They were married on November 28, 1964. In 1968 they took over the family dairy farm, where they raised their seven children. Adrian was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and Right to Life. Faith and Family meant a lot to him. He was a proud dairy farmer and a longtime member of the Holstein Association. While doing chores or milking cows he enjoyed listening to talk radio and Polka music. Farming was 24/7, but he always found time in his day to read the newspaper and he enjoyed a good polka band to dance too. At any time, he was always up for a good conversation about faith and politics with everyone. He was proud of his Irish heritage and had smiling Irish eyes. Survived by his wife Jane (Schiferl) Powers, children Jennifer (George Zemaitaitis) Powers of Seymour Ct; Carol (Jon) Fehrman of Wrightwood CA; Jim (Paula) Powers of Menomonie; Jon (Lori) Powers of Columbus; Ellen Powers (Jim Kapela) of Madison; Ann (Daniel Lochner) Powers of West Allis; Rita (Marc) Baumgartner of Rogers MN, two sisters Marie (Gary) Walter of Houston MN and Colleen (Shary) Powers-Adams of Washington DC, 19 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents F. Adrian and Marcella Powers, brothers Brian and Stephen Powers and sister Barbara (Powers) Zimbric. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:30 A.M., on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at ST. COLUMBKILLE CATHOLIC CHURCH in the Town of Elba. Rev. Mike Erwin officiated.
