COLUMBUS--Clyde J. Purvis age 70 died on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison, surrounded by many who loved him. He was born on December 30, 1948 in Beaver Dam, WI to Clayton and Gloria (Holle) Purvis. After high school Clyde served in the U. S. Navy from 1968 to 1974. He was assigned to the USS Daniel Webster where he then spent a year of his life under water. While in Hawaii Clyde was married to Sue Ann Reinke with whom he would have three children, Chad, Chris and Nici. They then moved back to Columbus and opened The Cardinal Cage in 1978. Clyde enjoyed every aspect of his life. From riding his ratt old chopper in the beginning to riding in comfort on a smooth riding Goldwing, WITH REVERSE! Clyde loved spending time at his bar with his customers who soon became family to him. Clyde's life switched directions when he became a Bompa to nine. He was unbelievably dedicated to his grandchildren. He would never miss a game or birthday; they were his pride and joy. Survivors include his two sons Chad (Heather) of Fall River and Chris of Beaver Dam; one daughter Nici (Nathan) Delmore of Deforest; nine grandchildren, N.J., Nyellie, Nadinlin, Noel and Nicolette Delmore, Ella, Calan and Isabell Purvis and Cooper Purvis; two sisters Cindy (Chuck) Ritter of Stoughton and Susie Ferguson of Beaver Dam; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the COLUMBUS PARK PAVILION 1049 Park Avenue in Columbus. Full military honors followed. Visitation was from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 8 at pavilion in Columbus and from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the pavilion on Tuesday.
