HORICON--Darvin R. "Dar" Mann, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in the family home in Horicon on June 21, 1929, the son of Alfred & Evelyn (Wegner) Mann. Darvin was married to Violet M. Rahn on January 8, 1955 in Beaver Dam. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon. Darvin was a 1948 graduate of Horicon High School. He retired on December 1, 1984 with 37 years of service with John Deere. Darvin was a veteran of the Korean War, serving four years in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 0157. Darvin enjoyed spending time with his family, working in the yard, bird watching and cheering on the Brewers and Packers. Survivors include his wife, Violet "Vi" of Horicon; two daughters, Beth (Patrick) Murphy of Green Bay; Meri Kay (Randall) Streblow of Beaver Dam; one son, Russell Paul (Laura) Mann of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Emily (Aaron) Embury of Monona, Erica (Curtis) DeQuaine of Green Bay, Chelsea (Andrew) Burdic, Alyssa and Robert Mann, all of Omaha, NE, Mitchell, Annalese and Colin Streblow of Beaver Dam; one great grandchild: Arlo Embury of Monona; one brother, Charles (Beverly) Mann of Horicon; beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald; one sister, Nancy Jahnke, three brothers-in-law, Edward Jahnke, Howard and Lester Rahn. Funeral services were held at 10 A.M. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Horicon. Pastor Mark Hasty officiated. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Horicon with full military honors. Visitation was from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., only on Sunday , at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 317 E. Walnut Street, Horicon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
