David A. "Dave" Popowski, age 70, passed after an extended battle with PSP on Monday, November 24, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. Dave was born on October 25, 1955 to Raymond and Dolores (Tomaszewski) Popowski in Stanley, WI. He grew up like many Wisconsin natives on a Dairy Farm up north.

Dave attended Gilman high school graduating in 1973. He attended District 1 Technical School in Eau Claire, and then moved to Chicago.  He met Diana and married in 1979. After relocating to the Madison area in 1985, he was employed by WEA Insurance for over 30 plus years as a computer programmer.

He was a lover of nature from walking and hiking our Wisconsin state parks, ATV trail rides and hunting whitetail deer, pheasant and rabbit.  He was a lifelong Wisconsin Sports Fan through even the rough years. Dave enjoyed playing softball on numerous teams with Diana, Tony and Nick.  A week of games took up the summer for many years.  He enjoyed watching westerns and game shows during retirement.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 46 years of marriage Diana of Columbus; his sons Anthony of Madison, Nicholas of Tampa, FL.; siblings Stan, Linda, Christine, Diane (Doug) Malak, Allen; three nephews Andrew, Jimmy, Ray; brothers-in-law Allen and Daylon Scheele of Stockton, IL; other relatives and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Orrin and Shirley Scheele; brother Arnold.
