REDLANDS CA--Donald Alan Walcott, 61, passed away unexpectedly in his home in Redlands, Calif. on June 16, 2016. He was born on October 13, 1954 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the son of Roy and Ruth (Sell) Walcott. When he was a toddler, his family moved to Riverside, California in mid 1950's, where he spent most of his remaining life. He graduated from Poly Technic High School in Riverside and continued his education at California State University-Long Beach, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Business. After graduating college, he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Colorado for 6 years where he grew to love the Denver area and the beautiful Rocky Mountains. After leaving the USAF, he began a career with Tracor Flight Systems in Texas and later transferring to Irvine, California. Don was an avid lover of the beautiful outdoors, especially mountain regions. He loved to just walk and take in the beauty around him whether he was at the top of a mountain, the middle of the desert or along the coastline of the beautiful California beaches. He was always the happiest when he could show you around all of the beautiful places he had been and he could tell you the history and answer any question you had about the area. He has left us way to early, but left us with many wonderful memories of time spent with him, that we all will treasure forever. He is survived by his sister Carole (Walcott) Fischer and nieces Cathy (Fischer) Gilliam and Cheryl (Fischer) Anders and their families, all of North Carolina. He is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David B. Walcott. He will be missed by all. A memorial service was held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Jensen Funeral & Cremation in Columbus.
