Douglas H. "Doug" Burgess, age 80, died on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Aspirus Hospital – Wausau. Doug was born on March 12, 1946 to Frank and Meldone (Purdon) Burgess in California.

Doug served in the navy for four years (1964-1967). He was married to Marie on January 22, 1977 and they were blessed with three children. He earned an associate degree as an Electronic Technician and worked with his father at a television shop. He worked and ministered as a Literature Evangelist for 20 years. He loved people and sharing with them about God. He looked forward each week to inviting people home for lunch after church. One of Doug and Marie's favorite memories together was their mission trip to Romania and Germany.  He enjoyed music (ukulele, guitar, piano, accordion), animal balloons,  and sharing books of stories he made.

Doug is survived by his wife Marie of Columbus; children Rick (Kathy) Burgess of Indianapolis, IN, Willow (Brian) Pulvermacher of Columbus, Amber (Hector) Santiago of Montello; grandchildren Matt (Kylie) Wischnowski, Noah (Madysen) Wischnowski, Isabella Burgess, Josiah Santiago, Hadassah Santiago, Deborah Santiago, Micah Santiago, Judah Santiago; great grandchild Beau; brothers Bob (Rita) Burgess of Guilford, IN, Mike Burgess of Tucson, AZ; sister Diane (Tom) Zaia of Syracuse, NY; other beloved relatives Sheri Springer, Chris (Katrice) Burgess, Danny Burgess and many close friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Burgess.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Wisconsin Academy SDA Church. Inurnment will be in Fountain Prairie Cemetery, Town of Fountain Prairie.
