Gloria A. Karow age 90, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Columbus Community Hospital. She was born on November 2, 1928 in Columbus the second child of Stanley and Marian (Smith) Austin. Gloria graduated from Madison East High School. She was married to Wesley Karow on June 17, 1950 at the Columbus United Methodist Church where the couple became active life-long members. Gloria was employed at JC Penney Co. in Columbus for over 20 years. She was the family 'picture taker' and could get the attention of all with her shrill whistle. Gloria helped organize the Wright family reunions and was active in the D.A.R. She was Sunday School superintendent, member of the United Methodist Women where she operated the sound system, served on numerous church committees including helping serve Kiwanis dinners and many other local community needs projects. She also served on the Okeeg Cemetery board. Survivors include her husband Wes of Columbus; three sons Steven (Dorothy) of Fond du Lac, Russell (Marla) of Corvallis OR and Dale (Kim) of Fort Atkinson; five grandchildren Tonia Moon, Timothy (Amy) Karow, Scott (June) Karow, Sarah (Adam) Mattison, Evan (Kate) Karow; seven great grandchildren Hunter, Dante, Beccalyn, Aleah, Patrick, Xander and Karina; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother and one sister in infancy. Funeral services were held at 12:00 P.M., with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the COLUMBUS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Columbus. Rev. Kimberly Brumm officiated. Interment was in Okeeg Cemetery, Danville. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus United Methodist Church or the Columbus Club House.
