Obituary

Gregg D. Schepp, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Clearview, Juneau, WI with his beloved wife of 53 years, Pat, by his side. Gregg was born on November 17, 1951, to Daniel Jr. and Shirley (Zahn) Schepp in Columbus, WI.

Gregg graduated from Fall River High School in 1970 and earned his Associate's Degree in Printing from Madison Area Technical College in 1972. He began his career at Insty-Prints in Madison where he worked for many years before purchasing the business and fulfilling a lifelong dream. For the next 23 years Gregg built a reputation for quality work, honesty and exceptional customer service. After selling the business to Thysse Printing he remained with the company for another seven years before retiring, a testament to his unwavering work ethic and love for his profession.

On October 7, 1972, Gregg was married to the love of his life, Patricia (Otto) at St. Patrick's church in Beaver Dam, WI. They lived in Fall River, WI, raising their three sons until 1994, when they moved to Columbus, WI. Ensuring his sons had the best opportunities in athletics, Gregg got actively involved with coaching youth baseball, football, and basketball. For decades, he devoted countless hours to coaching young athletes through Columbus Recreation and later with the Columbus Cardinals. He coached youth football, basketball and baseball before moving on to coach freshman and junior varsity football, freshman basketball and varsity baseball for Columbus High School. Although many of his teams enjoyed remarkable success, wins and championships were never what mattered most to him. Gregg believed teaching the value of hard work, discipline, teamwork and character was the ultimate goal. The respect and admiration he earned from the athletes and the friendships he built along the way were the greatest honors of his life.

Nothing brought him greater joy than being "Grandpa." He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren from the sidelines, whether it was on a football field, basketball court, baseball or softball diamond, or any other place they competed. He was their biggest fan, always encouraging them, celebrating their successes and helping them grow in both confidence and skill. The time he spent supporting them created memories they will carry with them forever.

Gregg also found peace and happiness in the outdoors. Whether casting a line on a quiet lake or sitting in a deer stand before sunrise, he cherished every moment spent in nature. Even more meaningful was sharing those experiences with his children and grandchildren, passing along not only his love of nature, but a deep appreciation for time together, patience and the simple joys of life.

His legacy is one of hard work, selflessness, quiet strength and unconditional love for his family. Gregg will be remembered for the countless lives he touched, the lessons he taught and the example he set every day. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who respected him and generations of athletes whose lives are better because they had the privilege of calling him "Coach."

Gregg is survived by his wife Patricia of Columbus; three sons Aaron (Melissa) Schepp of Oakfield, Keven (Nadia) Schepp of Sullivan, Dane (Amy) Schepp of Rubicon; six grandchildren Bailey, Lainey, Sophie, Emmett, Edison, Espen; sister Kaylen (Bill) Betzig, Hartland; and his beloved mother-in-law Rita Otto.  In addition, he is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Gregg was preceded in death by his parents; sister Kristin Erdmann; granddaughter Elliott; and father-in-law John "Jack" Otto.
