Harlan E.
Woodward
Apr 6, 1950 — Oct 14, 2025
Columbus
Harlan E. Woodward, age 75, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at SSM Health, Madison. He was born on April 6, 1950 to Russell and Delia (Thiessen) Woodward in Columbus. He was married to Elizabeth "Betsy" Beyer Wangerin on June 25, 1983 at which time he became a dad to Martha and Mary.
Harley was the kind of person everyone loved — always smiling, generous, with a love for life that touched everyone he met.
He proudly worked at Lyco Mfg. from 1982 until his retirement. A passionate snowmobiler, Harley was named 2015 WI Snowmobiler of the Year and dedicated countless hours to the Columbus Fall River Sno-Blazers and the Columbia Cty Assn of Snowmobile Clubs. His snowmobile adventures took him across the country, including unforgettable rides through Yellowstone.
Harley loved collecting Allis Chalmers tractors, showing off his prized 1972 SS Malibu Chevelle with a little burned rubber, camping all over God's country, as well as traveling to all 50 states.
A lifelong resident of his family homestead, Harley found joy in the simple things — caring for the land, taking photos, making homemade ice cream, and doting on every dog he met. He was the heart of his family and will forever be their guiding light.
Harlan is survived by his wife Betsy of Columbus; two daughters Martha (David) Schroud of Fall River and Mary Wangerin (Todd Schmechel) of Franklin; two grandchildren Kailey and Karsen Schroud; two sisters Audrey (Phillip) Batz of Sun Prairie and Marcella Woodward (Don Stephenhagen) of Windsor; two brothers Robert (Patti) Woodward of Waupun and Russell (Jeanette) Woodward of Oconomowoc; two sisters-in-law Nancy Woodward of Sun Prairie and Sharon Woodward of Columbus; a brother-in-law Tom Kvale of Belleville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Geraldine (Dave) Walker and Marilyn Kvale; three brothers Ronald "Rinky" Woodward, Donald Woodward, William Woodward; two nephews David Woodward and Robert Walker.
