Harvey W.
Krukenberg
d. May 21, 2018
WATERLOO/MARSHALL/REESEVILLE-- Harvey W. Krukenberg age 90, a one of a kind individual, a lover of decorating, and an all-around witty fellow, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Golden Years Living in Randolph, Wisconsin. Harvey was born in rural Reeseville, Wisconsin, to William Krukenberg and Laurina Stengel Krukenberg on March 1, 1928. He married Mary Ann Moy on December 2, 1961 in Reeseville. Together they lived in the Reeseville/Waterloo/Marshall area most of their married lives. He worked at many jobs, for many years, but his favorite job was working general labor at the Fall River Foundry for well over 30 years. He loved attending the Foundry's annual family picnic each July. Known for his love of Johnny Cash, his impromptu renditions of Burning Ring of Fire made women swoon, at least in his mind. Harvey loved decorating and he loved all things colorful. He often commented that a church should be decorated as God intended, with beautiful flowers. Harvey's visitation began at 10:30 a.m. with a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, with Father Michael Erwin presiding. Burial followed immediately thereafter. In honor of the 150 th anniversary of the original Decoration Day, mourners were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. They were also encouraged to share their favorite stories at a luncheon in the church basement after the burial. Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, in 2015, two children, Larry and Ann, both in infancy and his daughter Betty, in 2017. Many caring people assisted Harvey with his transition from the Marshall Trailer Park to So Close to Home in Marshall and then Golden Years Living in Randolph. Harvey's extended family included the staff at So Close to Home in Marshall and Golden Years Living in Randolph. He was particularly close to Tracy Perry and Stephanie Soter at Golden Years Living. Harvey met lifelong friends, Sherry Thompson and Emily Skalitzky, while working at the Fall River Foundry. Their visits were always welcomed by Harvey. Pam Davison of the Farmers & Merchants State Bank of Waterloo cared deeply for the Krukenberg family and offered care and concern for both Betty and Harvey Krukenberg as their health declined. Memorials may be directed to St. Columbkille Catholic Church or Agrace Hospice.
