Herbert A. Pergande age 88 died on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Columbus Health and Rehab in Columbus. He was born on December 31, 1928 in Columbus to Arthur and Emilie (Pomplun) Pergande. He was married to Lucille Marquardt on October 14, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown. The couple worked their 150 acre farm for seventeen years before buying their home in Columbus. At one time Herb drove a milk route and later was employed by Duffy Bros. in Columbus for many years as an over-the-road truck driver, which included several trucking runs to Alaska. After retirement they traveled extensively and created many handmade wood crafts with Lucille rosemaling pieces to sell under their "Hal's Crafts" label at arts and craft shows. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. Survivors include two daughters Shawn Westby of Henderson NV and Sandy Evans of Sauk City; seven grandchildren Chad, Leah, Jessica, Justin, Jacob, Kristen and Adam; two step granddaughters Amye and Patsy; seven great grandchildren Olivia, Willy, Devon, Treyton, Trevor, Kenneth Jr. and Kloe; one great-great granddaughter Autumn. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucille in 2016, infant sister Mary, son Scott in 2015, grandson Joshua Pergande and son-in-law Mike Evans. A graveside service was held at 2:30 P.M. on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Rev. Robert Wilke officiated.
