TOWN OF HAMPDEN/TOWN OF FOUNTAIN PRAIRIE--Irene H. Moore age 97, of rural Fall River died on Monday, May 23, 2016 at her home in the presence of her devoted son Ralph. She was born on December 29, 1918 at the home of her parents, Fred and Hattie (Brewer) Hasey in the Hampden township. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1936. She was married to Wayne Moore on April 16, 1941. She and Wayne lived at the Moore family farm where Terry and Nancy were born, and then moved to their own farm in Hampden Township in 1950 where Ralph and Marsha were born. They farmed in Hampden until 1988 when they moved to rural Fall River. Mom was the ultimate farm wife – raising their children, driving tractor when necessary, tending the chickens, annually picking stones, mowing lawn, planting her garden and preserving the bounty. Needless to say, she was a hard worker her entire life, with never a complaint. Not only did she nurture her family, she always had time for her community and friends. She was a 4-H leader for 10+ years and taught upward of 50 neighborhood girls how to sew. She was a member of Kings Corner Homemakers, DAR, Olivet Social Circle, and volunteered at Columbus Community Hospital. Mom was a good soul. She would help anyone in need. Among the things she taught us were "work never hurt anyone"; "always do your best", and "if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all." Survivors include two sons Terry (Pat) of Sun Prairie and Ralph of Fall River; two daughters Nancy (Robert) Miller of Columbus and Marsha Kuehl of Columbus; four grandchildren Chelsea Zimmerman, Lindsey Moore, Brooke (Nathan) Morauske and Jesse (Dori) Kuehl; three great grandchildren Zoey, Dawson and Gavin; two sisters-in-law Mureil Fornasiere and Dorothy Hasey; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne in 1991; two brothers, Floyd Hasey and brother and sister-in-law Harold and Jane Hasey; a son-in-law Jerry Kuehl. A celebration of Irene's life was held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Hampden Town Hall N1291 Cty. Tk. N, Columbus. Inurnment was in the Hampden Cemetery, Town of Hampden. Terry, Nancy and Marsha want to publicly thank Ralph for his years of compassionate care of Mom. Words can never express Mom's and our gratitude.
