Obituary

John J. "Jack" Nemitz, age 90, died on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at The Meadows in Fall River. He was born on November 11, 1934 to Richard and Winifred (Clark) Nemitz in Columbus, WI.

Jack served in the US Air Force from 1952-1956, joining at the age of 17. He met his beloved wife Delores while stationed at Whiteman AFB in  Knob Noster, Missouri. They were married on November 26, 1955 after Jack returned from spending a year in Greenland.

Jack worked at John Deere in Horicon as a Machinist for almost 30 years, retiring in 1996. He and Delores were avid snowmobilers, enjoying many trips with friends and family. Jack loved cars, owning dozens over the years and being able to name each one in detail when asked. He enjoyed working with wood, making bird houses and frames for pictures from old magazines. Jack and Delores often went "bumming", making the decision where to go as they drove out of the driveway by asking "right or left?". They enjoyed searching for antiques, playing slot machines, and stopping at local "watering holes" and meeting new people. They frequented The Casino and Kelly's Bar where Jack was known to hand out candy "kisses". Jack took pride in having a beautiful yard and he was often seen mowing his lawn with his John Deere garden tractors. Jack was a volunteer Fireman in Fall River and a member of the Columbus-Fall River Snowblazers for many years. He was known for his love of popcorn and he never met a raffle ticket he couldn't sell!

Jack is survived by his five children Cathy (Tim) Trojan, Diane (Steve Agnew) Larson, Linda (Jarrod) King, Scott (Lynn) Nemitz, Jenny (Mike) Briggs; 13 grandchildren Theresa and Joseph Trojan; Drew (Amber) Larson, Nick Larson, and Emily (Mike) Engling; Brianna King and Lizzie (Joe) DiFrances; Aaron Nemitz, Kahla Burzynski, Ethan (Anna) Ash, and Kelsey (Aaron Knutson) Ash; Katy and Jack Briggs; 12 great grandchildren Knox and Axel Larson; Ada, Roman, and Weston Engling; Carson and Bryson Burzynski; Addy, Reese, and Flynn Ash; Briella Knutson; Mason Nemitz; many relatives and friends.
