Obituary

LeeAnn Jensen age 87 died on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Prairie Ridge Health in Columbus. She was born on November 5, 1937, in Tomah, the second of thirteen children, to Russell and Doris (Brown) Griffin. LeeAnn was a 1956 graduate of Tomah High School. She was married to Herbert Jensen on September 23, 1956 in Tomah and together raised three sons. The couple moved to Columbus and shortly thereafter, purchased property on Waterloo Street which quickly turned into a ten-unit apartment complex. In addition to being a homemaker and mother of three impetuous sons, LeeAnn worked beside Herb during construction of the six-unit apartment building in the 1960's. She would re-paint and clean every two-bedroom apartment, nearly single-handedly, between every new renter. She was employed as a teller for the 1st National Bank in Columbus for ten years. In 1986, they purchased property in rural Fall River and after an extensive renovation, moved there after almost 30 years on Waterloo Street. Herb retired soon after as they enjoyed 15 years in the country before coming back to their apartment in Columbus. She was ready to lessen her yardwork responsibilities at that time as she was a bit OCD during the mowing season. This didn't mean she slowed down as LeeAnn kept active, spending much time tending her flower beds and mowing with a push mower we couldn't get out of her hands. She took great pleasure and satisfaction in keeping the property looking nice. Even as those years crept up on them, she still insisted on doing what she could outside, despite cautions from the family that it was becoming too much for her to do safely. She was an exceptionally tireless worker throughout those years. The upkeep finally became overwhelming for them and they sold the apartments in 2021 while remaining in their apartment until 2023.

Survivors include her three sons Jeff (Cheryl) of Daggett Michigan, Tim (Julie) of Columbus, Todd (Lauri) of Fall River; eight grandchildren Jessica (Mundo) Gonzalez, Melanie Bell, Hannah (Ian) Werner, Samantha (Ron) Spurbeck, Celeste Grubbs, Wesley Jensen, James (Karen) Jensen, Christian Jensen; sixteen great grandchildren Isaac, Giovanni, Lucien, Lucia (Nathan), Gordon, Moesly, Teddy, Lucas, River, Delilah, Remington, Piper, Levi, Morgan, Jack and Victoria; her brother Greg (Carol) Griffin of Madison; her six sisters Vickie (Loren) Wildes of Tomah, Katie (Juri) Valters of Jackson, Val Post of Bennett, Rose (George) Travis of Darien, Deb (Mike) Ryan of Madison, Becky (Tom) Collins of DeForest; many nieces, nephews; other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herb in 2024; three brothers, Russell, Thomas, Nick; a brother-in-law John Post; two siblings in infancy Mary Lynn and James Paul; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gladys and David deFluiter.
