Obituary

FALL RIVER/WYOCENA--Louis M. Hemling, age 88, affectionately known as Louie, left this world surrounded by his children on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. He was a resident of Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena, WI. Louis Myron was born on September 29, 1924 to William and Lillian (Birkenstock) Hemling in the township of Fountain Prairie.
Louie was a proud graduate of Fall River High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was stationed in Germany. That experience of travel and new friendships enriched his young life. He came back to take vocational agricultural classes to better prepare himself for his career in farming. Louis was married to Ruth Wakeman on June 24, 1948. Until 1972, they were partners on a dairy farm on the outskirts of Fall River on Hemling Road. Farming always remained very near and dear to him. Louis continued to have farm involvement by working for Randolph Concrete for many years. Louie was always very proud of his family's Fall River "roots". His final resting spot will be on land that was once part of the original Hemling farm.
Louie was the "Dad" to his eight surviving children: Sharon (Walt) Fujii of Hayward, CA; Pat (Corrie) Miller of Park Falls; Linda (Mike) Krakow of Columbus; Ron of Fall River; Renee (John) Neesam of Columbus; Susan (Chuck) Kaschub of Columbus; Phil (Denise) of Columbus; and Mark (fiancee Theresa Reed) of Randolph, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-children who also knew him as "Grandpa" and continue to celebrate his life and legacy.
Along with his two surviving sisters, Janet Buchen of Milwaukee and June Brewer of Fall River, other relatives and many friends will continue to celebrate his life and legacy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2012; his parents; three brothers, Bernard, Floyd, and Donald.
Please join the Hemling Family in honoring Louie's life on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Savanna Oaks Community Center, 100 Savanna Road, Fall River, WI. A tribute to Louis will be held 5:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Columbia Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyocena, or the Fall River VFW Post 2219.
