Louise J. Elske, age 77, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, September 27, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. She was born on January 26, 1947 to Steven Jr. and Betty (Jensen) Licitar in Portage, Wisconsin.

Louise was a secretary at Madison Telco Credit Union when she met Lyle Elske through a mutual friend. They were married in 1967. In 1971 she left the workforce to focus on raising her growing family. She would stay busy with hosting ceramic classes, trapshooting, and being an active member of the Columbus United Methodist Church. In 1985 she started working for the Columbus School District as a teacher's aide where she would stay for the next 23 years. Upon retiring in 2008 Louise spent her time caring for her grandchildren and enjoying time with friends and family.

Louise is survived by her husband Lyle; children Lynnette (Bret) Steinhauser of Norfolk, NE, Lon (Amy) Elske of Columbus, Lyle Jr. (Jenny) Elske of Sun Prairie; grandchildren Drew (Sierra) Steinhauser, Julia Elske, Charlotte Elske, Meredith Elske, Molly Elske, Sydney Elske; brother Steven (Terry) Licitar of Hubertus; sisters Donna Jordan of Paoli, Kathy Earl of Minneapolis, Carol Martin (Rick McGlynn) of Pardeeville; other relatives and friends. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister Mary; step-father Alvin Purves; brothers-in-law Dean Elske, Bruce Jordan and Larry Earl.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Jensen Funeral & Cremation. A visitation will be held the following day from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Columbus United Methodist Church. Pastor Sang Wook Park will officiate. Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery, Wisconsin Dells.
