Obituary

Margaret "Marge" Horton, 85, of Columbus, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Touch of Home in Tomah. She was born on February 25, 1940, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Eugene and Felia (Lueck) Hetzel.
Marge grew up in Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh High School. She married Roger Horton in 1960, and together they built a life full of love, faith, and family. Marge worked for FedEx from the early days of the company, quickly advancing through the ranks and taking on numerous positions due to her dedication and strong work ethic. She was able to retire at a young age, and Marge and Roger soon relocated to Fox Lake, Wisconsin. There—surrounded by nature, family, and friends—she truly lived her best life. Marge enjoyed traveling, gardening, and crafting, finding peace and joy in the simple things. She also volunteered with the Fox Lake Library and participated in numerous social clubs, further enriching her community and friendships. When Wisconsin winters became too cold, Marge and Roger snowbirded to Sun City Center, Florida, before returning to Wisconsin full time.

A longtime member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Columbus, Marge was deeply committed to her faith and community. She will be remembered for her kindness, her loving presence, and the way she made everyone feel welcome.

Marge is survived by her beloved husband, Roger Horton; their children, Jim (Margaret) Horton of Fox Lake, Lisa (Jim) Stefanski of Tomah, and Tim (Kelly) Horton of Sun Prairie; her eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Adam, Marisa, Joshua, Faith, Carson, Tyler, and Lindsey; two brothers, Joseph (Bev) Hetzel and Eugene Hetzel Jr.; two sisters, Pat Galicia and Lucille Lopez; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Lori Lang, and her sister Virginia Bates.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Columbus, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Father Bala will officiate.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Touch of Home and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Marge's final days.
