Marian H. Metzger age 90, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at her home. She was born on August 9, 1928 in the Town of Elba to Hector and Helena (DeNolf) Cromheecke. Marian was a graduate of the Columbus High School Class of 1945. She was married to Charles Metzger on September 12, 1950 in Columbus and the couple had three children. Marian worked for several Columbus attorneys including Lloyd Paust, George Bunsa and Behl & Lueders Law for 43 years, retiring in 2000. Some of her duties were tax preparation and probate where her exactness had to be to the penny. She often told of her experience with the first adding machines which could only add and not subtract. She was an avid sports fan, especially Wisconsin sports and the Brewers. Marian was thoughtful of her family members and always worried for everyone. In the past few years, she enjoyed adult coloring books, traveling, trips to the casinos with friends and reading to pass the time. She was an active member of St. Jerome Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society. Survivors include her son Robert (Mary) of Columbus; two daughters Joanne (Ronald) Waite of Waukesha and Donna (Randy) Retzlaff of Columbus; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Lucille Nowak of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1999; two brothers Maynard Cromheecke and Remi Cromheecke; three sisters Irene Pashley, Emma Loughlin and Mary Potenberg. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12:00 P.M., with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M., on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at ST. JEROME CATHOLIC CHURCH, Columbus. Rev. Garrett Kau officiated. Interment was in St. Jerome Cemetery, Columbus. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Area Senior Center or St. Jerome Church.
