Marie F. Jones age 86, died on Sunday November 17, 2013 at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam. She was born on January 23, 1927 in Columbus to Elmer and Laura (Sessing) Schey. Marie was a 1944 graduate of the Columbus High School. She was employed at the dental office of Dr. Noltner and the Wisconsin Telephone Co. for several years. Marie was married to John P. Jones on July 16, 1949 in Columbus. Together they owned and operated the Jones Funeral Home in Columbus for 40 years, retiring in 1988.
Marie was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and it's Altar Society. She was a long-time volunteer at Columbus Community Hospital and it's Auxiliary. Marie was a member of the Columbus Country Club and enjoyed her bridge club for many years. Survivors include two sons, Brian (Sandra) of Spokane, WA and Steven (Julie) of Apple Valley, MN; one daughter, Jane (Charles) Jones of Friendship; four grandchildren, Tina (Erik), Morgan (Amber), Gabriela and David; five great grandchildren, Colton Roberts, Sean Setzer, Gauge Jones, Levi Jones, Jenna Schleicher; one sister, Margaret Trawicki of Waukesha; a sister-in-law, Margaret Schey of Columbus; three brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1990; two sisters, Dorothy Siebert and Noreen Kleindl; three brothers, Elmer, LeRoy and Gordon; a sister-in-law, LaDonna Schey. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at ST. JEROME CATHOLIC CHURCH, Columbus. Rev. Steve Kortendick officiated. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation was from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made to St Jerome Church or Columbus Community Hospital Volunteers.
