Obituary

Patrick J. "Pat" McNicol, age 50, died on Friday, June 13, 2025. He was born on April 12, 1975 to Donald and Diana (Bunn) McNicol in Columbus, WI. Pat, a graduate class of 93' from Columbus High School. In 2000, Pat began his career at John Deere of Horicon. In 2009, Pat began working at North American Mechanical Inc (NAMI) as a pipefitter of hvac. He recently celebrated his 15 year mark working with NAMI, and started working with his son Kaiden. Pat enjoyed his family and children deeply, you would often see him at sport events, motorcycle rides, race tracks, and anywhere spending time with his friends. Pat had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, RC car racing, etc. RC car racing was a fun hobby Pat enjoyed with his brother, Mike, nephew, Cody, and the many friends he made at the RC track in Waupun. He was always one to help out in any way he could, including sponsoring a trophy race, helping out Jordyn with her cars, or telling jokes to make people smile when they had a bad race, but that's just who he was. In 2018 Pat started his love for his Harley, every year he would go to Tomahawk for the annual Fall ride, with friends, family, and other fellow bike riders. Pat also participated in different rides every year such as the annual Ride for SCARS, The Dump Run, The Poker Run, and many more. Pat also enjoyed the Build Moto program, an educational program that pairs high school students with mentors to learn technical, organized design and rebuild a motorcycle to flat track racing standards. Pat got the opportunity to ride the motorcycle the students of Columbus Build Moto built, on the Road America track. He simply said "I could do this all day, that was awesome", well that was Pat, that was our Dad, brother, uncle, and a dear friend.  No one could take him away from something he loved so much. In 2019, Pat joined the Columbus Archery team as a Coach, he spent 2 years watching from the sidelines. Pat was a huge supporter of the team and kids' successes. You would often see him as a team cheerleader, even going as far as painting his fingernails red for state before that became a team tradition. He celebrated the kids' successes as if they were his own; he felt the pain when kids struggled. Pat was one with an infectious smile that could brighten even the darkest of days. His quality of being kind and willingness to help anyone he could, an example was when a close friend broke his fishing poles, Pat brought over a bunch of his extra poles for him to use. He touched the lives of everyone he knew. Pat had the ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, always putting others first. He was the person you could always count on, no matter the circumstances, he was incredibly strong. Pat's memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he may be gone, his legacy of love, laughter, infectious smile, and kindness will never be forgotten.

Pat is survived by his children Kaiden McNicol, Jordyn McNicol, Jasmyn McNicol, Jayda Schmidt; brothers Scott (Helen) McNicol of Waterloo, Rob McNicol of DeForest, Mike (fiancé Pam Herrick) McNicol of Janesville; sister Dana (Gary) Loken of DeForest; With other relatives and friends.
