Peggy
Goetsch
Apr 3, 1959 — Mar 30, 2024
Peggy Goetsch, age 64, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
Peggy was born on April 3, 1959, in Fond du Lac to James and Doris (Kuehl) Fritchen. Peggy grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1977. Following graduation, she attended college in Madison where she graduated with a degree in Interior design/ decorating. She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she lived for several years.
In 1983, she met her loving husband, Fred. They were married on May 11,1985 in Oak Creek, WI. They lived there for several years while they started a family and welcomed three beautiful daughters: Amanda, Clara, and Laurel. After their third daughter was born, Peggy and her family returned to Columbus to be closer to family and raise their children in her hometown.
Peggy had multiple interests including spinning, knitting, sewing and the performing arts. She found joy in her daughters and her grandkids sharing the love of these hobbies as well. Among her hobbies was also bread making; her famous frybread and sourdough were a favorite of the family and will be greatly missed.
Peggy was always interested in making the Earth a better place and admired the Native American Culture, their spiritual outlook, and took an interest in how they viewed "Mother Earth". Peggy was able to get involved with a Native American group and helped organize a Water Walk around Lake Winnebago. Lake Winnebago was her favorite lake, if not her favorite place. Peggy spent her summers there as a child at the family cottage. She always found peace and happiness near that lake.
During the nice weather, you would find Peggy on her front porch, sharing a cup of coffee on the weekends with her husband Fred, working on a new project, or planting her favorite flower, pansies. Being the creative person she was, she always had something on a needle, the spinning wheel, or a new idea for Fred to assist with. She, of course, enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Oliver.
Peggy is survived by Fred, her husband of 39 years come May; three daughters Amanda (Justin) Swaagman of Sherwood, OR, Clara Goetsch of Columbus, Laurel Goetsch of Columbus; grandchildren Mackenzie and Oliver Swaagman; Her Mother Doris Fritchen now at the Meadows in Fall River, three brothers Stuart (Lucinda) Fritchen of Fitchburg, Steven Fritchen of Pleasant Prairie, Andrew (Callie) Fritchen of Madison; nephews Noah, Hunter and Nicky Fritchen.
Peggy is preceded in death by her father Jim, and sister in law, Phyllis.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The world is a lesser place without you Peggy Sue!
