Phillip Matthew
“Matt” Breuckman
Feb 13, 1970 — Sep 10, 2024
Phillip Matthew "Matt" Breuckman, age 54, died at his home in Columbus on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was born on February 13, 1970, to Phillip and Linda (Johnson) Breuckman in Burlington, Wisconsin.
Phillip was a 1989 graduate of Columbus High School. After high school he earned an associate degree in Agriculture. He was a true farmer at heart and loved working alongside his father, brother, and nephew. Matt earned multiple awards for crop production and low somatic cell for his herd of dairy cattle. He had the unique ability to memorize each cow and their dairy record statistics. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter, but his passion was fishing. He loved his trips with friends to Canada to fish and play cards. He had an old soul that enjoyed cowboy movies, talking about the olden days, and a soft heart for the elderly. Following his many years working on the farm he worked at Menards and most recently at Culvers. He loved socializing and talking about farming or hunting with all that he crossed paths with and never forgot the name of someone he met. He had a way of making those around him feel heard asking about their day and family.
Matt is survived by his parents Phillip and Linda Breuckman of Columbus; brother Chad Breuckman of Columbus; sister Amy Holwerda of Beaver Dam, nieces and nephews; Elizabeth (fiancé Alex) and Josh Breuckman, and Sybren, Graylee, and Stetson Holwerda, other relatives and friends. Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Bob and Mary Johnson, Hugo and Gertrude Breuckman; brother-in-law Jim Holwerda.
A visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. with a funeral mass starting at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at St. Jerome Catholic Church.
Memorials can be directed to Prairie Ridge Health Foundation: Lifeline, or Bridges of Dodge County Inc.
