Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the age of 88, Rodney James Coughlin, moved to the great hunting and fishing lodge in the sky to rejoin his son, Jon, his brother, Martin, his parents, Julia and Edwin, and his many aunts and uncles. Rodney was born on April 11, 1936 to Edwin and Julia (Kable) Coughlin in Appleton, WI.

Rodney was an incredible man. He lived a humble life that touched many lives through teaching, coaching, and working summer jobs to support his six children.

Rod and his wife, Ramona, spent 70 wonderful years together creating memories. They traveled around the US to see the sights and to experience the local cuisines.

His quick wit and thoughts will be greatly missed by his five surviving children, Cindy (Peter) Uvaas, Patrick (Lisa Miller), Jeffrey (Joan), Mark (Sherry), Kim (Chris) Archambault.

Rodney was very proud of his 14 grandchildren, especially their scholastic accomplishments and what good people they had become.

Mr. Coughlin will be remembered and impersonated for his voice, mannerisms, words, and phrases. His guidance and empathy touched many students through the halls of Valders and Columbus High Schools. It is a testament to the kind of man he was that previous students would call, show up at his door, or send him a note.

The family would like to thank Lifestar EMS, the Columbus Fire Department, along with the doctors, nurses, and staff at UW Hospital for their expert care, support, and compassion.

Per Rod's request we will have a private gathering of immediate family only.
