Obituary

Rosemarie C. Duesing (nee Plestina), 96 years of age, entered her heavenly home on February 12, 2025 at The Columbus Health and Rehab Center in Columbus, Wisconsin joining her husband Robert E. Duesing who passed away on February 17, 2006.

Rose was born on October 28, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Croatian immigrants and always proud of her Croatian heritage. She attended Catholic schools and loved the Catholic Church. Mom and Dad met on a double date. They married October 10, 1951, and lived briefly in California while Bob was in the Marine Corp. Rose worked at Illinois Bell. Later transferring to Wisconsin Bell/Ameritech when Mom and Dad moved to The Farm in Columbus, Wisconsin in 1972.

Rose loved being a homemaker, wife and mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Rose was a person who was always willing to help whenever needed. After retirement she worked as a teacher's aide at Columbus School District and Prairie Ridge Health as a volunteer. Rose enjoyed going to events with the Red Hat Ladies and was a member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and the Pioneer Club. Mom loved doing arts and crafts and hosting family gatherings. Mom was proud of being able to live independently at The Farm until she was ninety-five. Whenever people stopped by unexpectedly, she would just put a bigger pot of spaghetti on the stove. Rose and Bob loved to travel. Visiting Arizona, Florida, New York, Missouri, California, Puerto Rico, Ireland, England and twice visiting Croatia which was her favorite. She was able to visit her parents' homes and connect with relatives who treated her like royalty.

Rose is survived by her four children Michael (Lynn) Duesing, Jonathan (Lori) Duesing, Michelle Neuman (Tom) and Janis Bachofen (Darrell). Her grandchildren: Rick (Stephanie) Duesing, Christina Duesing, Matt Duesing, Amanda (Felix) Zdrojkowski, Scott (Mickie) Duesing, Eric Neuman, Andrew (Yen) Neuman, Rachael Neuman, Travis Bachofen (fiancée Hailey), Jessica (Dave) Roundy and her fifteen great grandchildren. Nieces Darlene Beran and Carol Voelker also survive her. Her best friend, neighbor and dancing partner Emma Bennett. A special mention to Pam Chervat, caregiver and friend, Alice Gibson and Sue Duhnee.  Mom's neighbor and caregiver Alice provided spiritual support for Mom when she was no longer able to go to church and receive communion.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bob, her parents Sam Plestina and Clara (Grassich) Plestina, her siblings Lucy Braskich, Laura Phillips, John Plestina, and her Guardian Angel/brother Louis Plestina.

Rose lived a full life, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
