Obituary

William R. "Bill" Gall, age 72, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at his home in Columbus. Bill was born on September 24, 1951 to Robert and Yvonne (Lehman) Gall in Columbus, WI.

Bill lived in Columbus with his parents and siblings until he was 15 when the family relocated to Indianapolis where he later graduated from North Central High School. Life would take him from Indianapolis to Iowa City where he worked for Hawkeye Medical until his mid-thirties before returning to Columbus. He would reside in Columbus through the remainder of his work life and retirement with time spent working for American Packaging, Advanced Lasers and Instruments, and Enerpac.

He was a dedicated golfer with an entirely silly collection of golf towels hung meticulously in his office. He loved the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers, but had a special place in his heart for the Iowa Hawkeyes (the truth is the truth). He attended the Indianapolis 500 throughout his life as an annual Memorial Day tradition. He loved cookouts, boating, and chili. He liked fishing and tinkering in his garage. He loved the holidays, college football, and March Madness. All of these interests and hobbies, that were shared with those around him, just provided the scaffolding for how he will be remembered. As a kind, generous, and hilarious man who connected to people in a way that made them feel safe, heard, and cared for.

Bill is survived by his significant other Kathy Purves-Sharpee of Oshkosh; children Tyler (Casey) Gall of Tucson, AZ, Dena (Adam) Dorn of Oshkosh, Daniel (Kelly) Stahl of MI, Patrick (Cheryl) Stahl of MI; grandchildren Bryce Dorn, Caden Dorn, Jordan Stahl, Katelynn Stahl, Myah Stahl; Sister Nadine Hoehne of OH; brother Michael (Maria) Gall of IN. and a great many friends and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife Judy Hesson.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. with a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Jensen Funeral and Cremation. Rev. Bob Moburg will officiate.

A special thank you to everyone who loved him, it was certainly felt and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made for a memorial marker at Columbus Country Club through the family.
