SUN PRAIRIE--Zama Isola (Patzwald) Harden age 90, died peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Kindred Hearts Memory Care in Cottage Grove after a long battle with dementia and parkinsons disease. She had been a resident at Kindred Hearts since January 2016 after residing in Sun Prairie for 50 years. Zama was born on March 21, 1926 in Eau Claire to George and Jessie (Fish) Patzwald. Her childhood and young adulthood was spent growing up in and around the Fall Creek area. She attended Eau Claire College for two years. Zama met and was married to Ken Harden on June 1, 1947 in Fall Creek. Due to regional transfers, Ken's work for GTE required the family to move to Rice Lake, Twin Lakes, Walworth and finally settling in Sun Prairie in 1966. Zama was the quintessential stay-at-home mother during the 1950's and 1960's. In addition to caring for her family, she became active in her antique club, working as a poll worker, volunteering at the museum as a tour guide, blood bank, special events at the Legion, along with social gatherings with friends and family. She also did part-time modeling jobs. When her children were older, she went to work at the Wisconsin Cheeseman and GTE both in Sun Prairie. She received a Lifetime Member award from her antique club and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Zama was adored by her children and grandchildren and her love for them was immeasurable. This love along with the love of her friends always kept a smile on her face. Survivors include her son Kirk of Nokomis, FL and her daughter Jan (Bill) Rector of Spring Grove, IL; four grandchildren, Justin (Justine) Harden and Kory Harden both of Florida, Aaron Rector of Savage MN, Sasha (Chris) Doering of Madison; four great grandchildren Alayna, Colin and Hannah Harden and Kyan Doering; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken in 2011, a sister Dawn Schuett. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, June 17, 2016 at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Sun Prairie. Rev. Tim Hansen officiated. Interment was in Sun Prairie Memory Garden. Memorials may be directed to SouthernCare Hospice or Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Zama's family extends their sincere thanks to the wonderful caregivers she had for many years along with the staff of SouthernCare Hospice, and finally to the staff of Kindred Hearts.
